Winslow will participate in minicamps

Posted May 21st, 2008 by Dan

Straight from his agent Drew Rosenhaus, tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. will participate in upcoming minicamps. Winslow is sitting out OTAs because he underwent knee surgery this offseason. Here's the video:

Winslow still has some of the talent the Browns thought he had when they drafted him – he's shown that.

But I swear to blankety blank; attitude matters too – team matters…honor matters…he and his %^%*^ agent signed the dang contract… the Browns (I don't think) didn't stick it to him like they could've for his dumb motorcycle mishap…

I'm an old jock…and I wouldn't want a guy like him on my team…I do not respect anything but his playing ability… and that is not enough… I think the Browns should get what they can for him, and call it a day.

Mark, I mostly agree what you're saying about his attitude problem and sticking by a contract.

However, I don't know if the Browns have the luxury of ditching talent at this point. Heiden's surgery seems more serious than the team is letting on and Rucker, while talented, is still an unknown.

Win-slow is talented; no question. He became the third best tight-end in the league while injured and who knows what he could have become if he hadn't VOIDED HIS CONTRACT BY HIS OWN BEHAVIOR AND CHOICE TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITY THAT WOULD UNDERMIND HIS TEAM. He is not a Cleveland Brown; he is a football player. He never was committed to this team and never will be committed to anything but his money grubbing LAWYER/Agent Drew Steal-Your-House. It is amazing how that man can lay his head down on his pillow at night and actually go to sleep; he is a very bad man and worse citizen. Terrible person with only one goal; $$$$. So let's not fool ourselves into believing it is nothing else but than a ploy to gain more money for his client; which, in turn, makes more of a percentage for him. He needs/WANTS to get paid, and every time he renegotiates his clients contract for more money, he gets more money.

He'll throw terms out there like "Market Value" and "My Client this…and my client that…" but we all know the bad smell that this sub-human exudes…he is dispicable. The Browns had the chance a long time ago to void Winslows contract and move on…they chose not to and now they have to pay the price for THEIR decision; Winslow pretty much gave them the opportunity to separate and they (THE BROWNS) chose not to; end of story. Unfortuneate but true. I wrote in a Blog entry many years ago after the accident, after waiting for Winslow to recover from his leg-break during the embarrassing Cowboys beat-down…that he would never be 100% and he would end up costing the team dearly in many ways; I was right, here it comes, and prepare for a hold-out and/or trade.

It is just a big slap-in-the-face for Winslow to treat his employer this way. An employer who stood by his side, did not leave him "out-in-the-cold" so to speak and supported him in every way possible…it just makes me sick to think that it could have come to this when I know we could have gotten a GREAT cornerback signed during the draft for Winslow…sure, he is better at 85% than most tight ends are at 100% but it is clear he is not committed to the team.

Hey meat-head McMahn bone-head reporter from Ohio.com, your letting your bias get the better of your judgement…you got fired from ClevelandBrowns.com for a reason; it is clear you are more committed to the player rather than the team with your attempt to break-down the "voluntary" semantics of OTA's. Get over yourself and realize that it isn't all about that…it is also about him coming out and asking to re-do his already grateful contract…if anything, he owes the Browns money for paying him to sit like an idiot for two years while injured so wake up and get with the team; not the player. I have no sympathy or understanding for someone who was so graciously supported by his team, and then turns around and is obviously going to attempt to "stick it to them." It just leaves a sick feeling in my gut and makes me wonder about the bone-head reporter from Ohio.com and how somehow and in someway he must pretty much have something on the owners at Ohio.com or someone in upper management must have lost a bet – cause' this tyrant must be hell to work with; sympathy for all other sports writers at the AB Journal.

Point being, if Winslow were committed to the Browns, he would work on getting healthy to help his TEAM, honor his contract, and show up at mini-camp ready to become another All-Pro tight-end which is what we need from him; remember when he needed something from the Browns all those years ago on crutches limping out of the Cleveland Clinic??? Yes, Savage and Crennel and Lerner ALL stood by his side and supported him. And this is how he repays them. Trade him or it will only get worse…
