Welcome back, RAC?

The Browns dimissal of Romeo Crennel as head coach does not mean we won't see the loveable quote machine back in 2009.
Per ESPN's James Walker, Crennel would consider coming back to the team in another capacity next season, presumably as the defensive coordinator. That all hinges on the hiring of Patriots vice president of player personnel, Scott Pioli. Pioli is expected to be the front runner for the Browns general manager job.
Towards the end of the post, Walker, a former Browns beat writer in Columbus, OH gives a small clue as to who the Browns could be looking at for a head coach should Pioli come aboard:
If Pioli is hired, head coaching candidates are expected to be Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.
McDaniels is not a shock, but he's fairly green. He's only 32 years old, but he's a local boy who grew up in Barberton, OH and played football at John Carroll University.
On the other hand, Ferentz is a seasoned NCAA coach, having been at the helm of the University of Iowa since 1998. He's a popular name who has come up previous head coaching hunts in 2001 and then again in 2005.
If Crennel does return to the team, it's likely to pair with the young McDaniels. He has only been a coordinator for three seasons, and would be one of the NFL's youngest head coaches. Crennel would likely run the defense on his own then.
So you tell us, if Josh McDaniels becomes the Browns head coach, are you okay with the possibility of Romeo Crennel coming back as the defensive coordinator? Leave a comment.

Personally, I'd be fine with it so long as they wanted to continue running a 3-4 defense, which I'm not so sure the Browns should be.

There's a feel-good element to this story but I worry about Crennel's inability to correct poor tackling and inability to effectively discipline his players. I don't like his passive read & react defensive philosophy. Spagnuolo, Schwartz and Johnson have shown the way with their savage (not Phil!) attacking, swarming defenses. Against Pittsburgh when our DB got to the QB on a blitz he stopped short as if not knowing what to do when he should have run right through the bastard.

Tuckers bend but don't break "D" was under RC's supervision & defensive additions seemed under utilized. But on the other hand, look what we did to the Giants offense. I'm still alittle nervous of our main issues being distorted w/thinking w/our hearts intead of our heads. Like zdawg, this is a feel-good cinerio but w/questionable good intensions. It seems like everyone is comfortable w/being the Cardiac Kids instead of a dominating dynasty.

The only coaching spot I would find acceptable for RAC would be as a position coach (ie D-line coach.) Any position that involves planning, strategy & game day adjustments (ie D-coodinator)- NO WAY!!! He has already woefully demonstrated his lack of prowess in this area.

The Browns need a coach with a strong hand. Someone who can put some (BITE) in the defense. Someone who can put the "N" in NASTY that person is Rex Ryan who has known defense his whole life(ie Buddy Ryan.) Who else knows our division better? As far as GM we have had our feel of soft cheating patriots and their passive ways we need someone proven in building a franchise. So randy step up to the pump, bring back the DAWGS not a bunch of sorry ass puppies!! The Real choice is Bill Parcells! Hell even if he leaves in 2 years we are already built the foundation is there…. THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Bubba is right! The "Big Tuna" is the best man for GM. The Browns
havn't been on the right track for years, always something missing.
The fans deserve the best Lerner can get.It would be a Browns Fans
dream come true.
