An Ohio.com Community Blog.

About blogger Dan

Hello. Welcome to my blog.

I am Dan Kadar, your blog captain. While most consider me a journalist, I am first and foremost a Cleveland Browns fan. One of my earliest memories is hearing Dick Enberg call the 1986 AFC Championship game between the Browns and Broncos. This says a lot about my formative years.

As a youngster, I dressed up as Bernie Kosar almost every Halloween. It was a great costume, but sadly didn't include Bernie's sweet, sweet mullet. I stayed a fan during the bleak Bill Belichick years and I don't recall any events in my life from 1996 to 1999.

Following high school, I went to the University of Akron. There, I worked at the school paper, the Buchtelite. (You're probably already aware of one of my great collegiate cohorts.) For some time at the Buchtelite I had the Charlie Frye beat. That's right. An entire beat based on a Mid-American Conference quarterback.

During college, I worked as a student correspondent at the Beacon Journal in the features department. It was fun writing about everything in pop culture, from books to a woman who ate dirty worms in front of a live audience at Geauga Lake.

Now, I work for Ohio.com, specifically politics.ohio.com. What does this have to do with the Browns? Well, nothing really. If you're curious about my involvement in football, I currently help run New Era Scouting, a football site that revolves around the NFL Draft. Helping launch and run the site has been an enjoyable challenge. Our work is regularly seen by NFL front office members, which is neat. Oddly, Barack Obama requested a draft guide we produced. (note: this is the absolute last time politics will be mentioned on this blog — I promise)

None of that really matters, though. What matters is right here and right now. This is a blog by a fan, for fans. By all means, leave comments, offer suggestions and e-mail me anything you'd like. (well, except pictures of you in your underpants. that would be weird)
