A friend has recently determined that the perfect vehicle for his needs is a new Kia Sportage. Korean built cars did not have a great name in this country for many years but, recently, their reputation seems to be improving. Since I'm not really knowledgeable about any Kia vehicles, I'm asking for your comments and experiences to help his decision.

Any Kia comments out there?

I don't have any experience with the KIA but I bought a 2002 Hyundai Sonata and consider it the best car I have ever owned. Hyudai is the big brother to the KIA. The quality was amazing. By 60,000 miles which was the end of its bumper to bumper guarantee period, the only problem I had was a battery that went bad, and Hyundai replaced it free under the guarantee.
It stopped on a dime, handled great and it drove smoother at 90 then most cars do at 65, in fact I couldnt believe I was going 90. If the Kia has benefited from the engineering and quality that has gone into Hyundai and I would assume it has, you should love it.
