Tier 4=state mandated open enrollment. I won't argue academics with you. If I would, it would end in a tie. Akron has one of the top polymer engineering programs in the nation, while Kent State's fashion merchandising program is second to none. We both have our strenghts. Fred, you're right too. Kent does have an overall better athletic program when it comes to the Reese and Jacoby trophies. That's something to be proud of. When it comes to the sports that matter though, we have football (don't deny that) and you have basketball (though that's evening up lately). FLASH FAN, easy on the caps, you're correct too. I was insulted and overzealous. Your basketball recruit (and even your own KSU blogger says he participates in team activities) was merely CHARGED with a couple felonies. Luckily, he took plea deals in both (that sure makes it better?) to get them down to misdemeanors. Best of luck this year in both sports (except for three days).

On a side note, RowdyZ, maybe you should stop worrying so much about Chris Singletary making too much noise, and instead start worrying about your school's poor athletic academic standards, your loss of scholarships, and your tier 4 academic ranking.

Ask Brookhart whether or not he recruited Torrence.

Tyree Evans is not on Kent's basketball team. At this moment in time, he is nothing more than a transfer to Kent State. He is not a member of the basketball program. If he successfully walks on and stays out of trouble, he may be. There was no announcement, the way there was when Brooks transferred to Akron. He's not listed on their roster, the way Brooks was. And there's no public pleading to defend him, the way Brookhart has done with Torrence.

You're right: game over…that is, until your defensive linemen start taking cheap shots to intentionally injure Eugene Jarvis for a third straight season, and Brookhart goes out of his way to defend them again.

Well said, hovey. By the way, Rowdy, you say game over you win yet you are basing this on incorrect (some might argue libelous) statements; try to spin it any way you want but there is no FELONY CONVICTION. So I guess you don't "win" after all.

RowdyZ – I would beg to differ that anyone "wins" in this discussion. How do you "win?" By having less loosers? LOL

This is a pissing contest where there really aren't any winners, b/c inevitably tomorrow there is another kid that screws up…and then the next day the other school has a similar story.

However, if you need to notch a hollow victory, b/c about the only place you get any consistent wins against our program is in football, then be my guest.

Hmmm…one wasn't recruited. He asked to walk-on in his hometown. He was dismissed immediately (obviously). Shooting at police would net a 2 game suspension under kent rules. Our other recruit was acquitted of any crime involved in a supposed "sex ring." He was permitted to walk-on for the football team and will be given a scholarship if he stays out of trouble.

Your guy is the guy who was CONVICTED of raping a 15 year old, felony drug possession with intent to distribute AND investigated in a murder. Don't tell me about the plea deals he took. Not to mention that your quality staff ACTIVELY RECRUITED A CONVICTED FELON. Game over, I win.

(here's where you bring up the shortcomings of previous staffs at Akron)

I agree, RowdyZ. I mean, we all know that a noise violation is just as bad as "raping" a 13-year-old or shooting at police officers. Kent needs to follow Akron's lead here. THAT's a respectable school when it comes to discipline…
