The Kent State men’s basketball team (3-4) had its 18-game home winning streak snapped 75-69 Thursday by the Gaels of St. Mary’s (6-1) at the M.A.C. Center.

Junior center Brandon Parks fueled a 13-1 run late in the first half to tie the score at 30, but the Flashes were unable to show enough consistency in the second half to secure the win. Parks paced the Flashes with 16 points and eight rebounds. Junior Chris Singletary added 16 points as well.

St. Mary’s point guard Patty Mills “played as advertised” scoring, what seemed like, an effortless 26 points. Center Omar Samhan was a critical piece down low for the Gaels. After leaving last year’s contest against the Flashes early with an arm injury, Samhan responded this game with 19 points and eight rebounds.

The game marked the Flashes fourth consecutive game against an opponent receiving Top 25 votes in the Associated Press Poll (Illinois, Texas A&M, Kansas and St. Mary's). It was their fourth consecutive loss as well. Coach Geno Ford called St. Mary's second best team — to only defending National Champion Kansas — the Flashes have played during that stretch.

Hopefully I can get something a little more in depth up tomorrow. Parks was really the story from the KSU perspective though. He played well.
