KSU Football looking for wins in 2009

by Mike Hrusch on July 26, 2009

in Football

Believe it or not, the Kent State football program has come a long way.  Under Doug Martin the graduation rate is above 80 percent.  The players have been quality citizens and Martin is respected in the community.  There has also been stability among Martin and his staff.  More than $15 million in upgrades have been done to Dix Stadium.  Now it is time for the program to produce a consistent winner.  Martin and his staff are hoping the final game from 2008 will help them shake a losing culture, and win in 2009.  The Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto has the full story here.

It sure would be nice to see a winning record this year. I`m not talking about 10-2 or 9-3. But, 8-4 would be real nice. For a program that has been doing pretty much everything right……it WOULD be nice! Go Flashes!!! By the way Mike……too bad there are no responses to SOME of your posts.

I'm reading all the posts and appreciate the info. I'm sure others are too. While the info is good, it's not controversial so I don't have a reason to respond.

Does responding need to be controversial? It would be nice to show SOME support.

The problem with this blog is that it is basically filled with only links from other writers work. By the time I get to the blog, I have read the link originals and there is no new info of interest in this blog. I appreciate the author collecting the links for us, but how about some NEW information known as original journalism.

Kent Sports Report is reporting a commitment from a 3 star qb from North Carolina. That might be the highest ranked commitment at Kent State this early and nobody else is reporting it? Not the Record Courier or the Journal?

ABC Flash,

That's because this is the AKRON Beacon journal. Not the KENT beacon journal. Like OU and Miami, you guys lack a major media outlet in your backyard. Sad? Yes. True? Very.

Bottom line: No one will ever care about Can't state, their ugly campus, poor academics, or pitiful football team.

Go home. Kent State sucks and will always suck.

Marc July 29, 2009 at 12:35 pm

I always love when Akron people bring up poor academics. How about you go home to your open enrollment school!

Eric,

As you pointed out this is the AKRON Beacon Journal, not the KENT Beacon Journal. However, the two athletic programs both have exactly one beat writer, and both have their own blogs. People obviously care about KSU,and the ABJ and Ohio.com value them about the same as Akron sports. Bottom line: Kent State was the best experience of my life, I think it's one of the best kept secrets in Northeast Ohio, and I know thousands of people who would agree with me. The campus is very pretty in my opinion and the academics are strong. I won't point out all the things that KSU has going for it both with athletics and other things, we don't have that kind of time. I will also not respond to idiots like you again. It's too bad, you make the Akron Zips fan base look bad and take away from all the good things that that school has going for it too. Don't disrespect my school, idiot.
