Gaines commits to Kent State Basketball

by Mike Hrusch on August 3, 2009

in Basketball

Steve Hare from the Kent Sports Report was the first to report today that athletic Chicago native Eric Gaines has verbally committed to play for the Golden Flashes men’s basketball program and become a part of the 2010 recruiting class.  "I know one of the assistant coaches went to Hillcrest (former Flashes guard Armon Gates)," Gaines told KSR from an article back on July 16.  "Also, they've won their conference a few times in the last few years."  Playing at Hillcrest High School last season, Gaines averaged 13 points a game, three rebounds and three assists a game.  Gaines reportedly had scholarship offers from Southern Methodist, Wright State, Illinois State, Eastern Illinois, DePaul and Western Illinois with several other schools showing interest.  Gaines knows what he must improve on as he goes forward.  "I need to get my jump shot going," Gaines said. "I need to get in the weight room and work on my jumper."  Gaines joins forwards Kenny Knight from Cincinnati and Mark Henniger from Massillon Jackson in the 2010 recruiting class.

Why is nobody talking about Chris Singletary getting arrested YET AGAIN????? It was just two months ago. Will he be permitted to wear his house arrest ankle bracelet during games?

PooTownMayor, Should you really start talking about players & their legal issues? Take a look at your boy Jimmy's rap sheet.

Just ignore him and stay on topic.

It's nice to see the coaching staff fill these spots early. Armon Gates is clearly hard at work recruiting the Chicago area and is nice to see him bring in a guy with some good size. Keep up the good work coaching staff and welcome aboard Eric!

Ignore him? Like the KSU athletics departments ignore Chris Singletary's repeated discretions? That's why the National Guard was called in once before…you all ignored the warning signs.

PooTown, It`s very interesting to see how one can equate May4th and this. Oh, wait a minute……you went to Crackron. By the way…..you`re an idiot!

Hey RooTown…where did you see that Singletary was arrested again? I've found this info nowhere. Are you sure you're not reading a follow-up report on his noise violation?
