Instant replay is killing the game! Even with instant replay there have been blown calls. Soccer has the right idea, no replay.........yet.

Keep in mind what overturned calls on the field mean:

The officials on the field screwed it up initially and were saved by the old guy with glasses upstairs.

That's not why we have instant replays in sports.

Instant replay killed this game.

Actually, the second reversed call came on fourth down. Thus, it was ruled that there was no fumble (because the receiver's elbow had already hit the turf) but Kent still got the ball on downs - as the Akron receiver had failed to pick up the first down.

Steve in the second case the Akron player was not ruled down. Kent was given the ball on the spot where the fumble occurred. However, the touchdown was taken away.

It was pretty clear that the Akron player was down in both cases, if you were paying attention to the video board. The calls certainly changed the game, but they were both correct calls. Kent may have a better team this year, but Akron had the better team tonight, that's for sure.

Reversed Calls Change Outcome

That's what the headline should read! All the reviewed calls In Saturday nights Akron Vs Kent State went in favor of Akron. Overall the statistics were about even. Akron had 429 total yards of offense to kent State's 415. So the came was a toss up! However, 2 reversed calls definitely changed the outcome of the game. In the 1st quarter with Kent State up 3-0 Akron fumbled the ball and Kent State recovered. The call was reversed by the press box officials saying the Akron player was down before the fumble occured. Akron went on to score a touchdown and took a 7-3 lead, I the 3rd quarter Akron fumbled the ball and Kent State picked the ball up and ran it back for a touchdown. The review was to challenge wheter the Akron player was down before the fumble occured. The officials on the field ruled that Kent State had scored a touchdown. The officials in the press box reviewed the play and said Kent state had recovered but the player had his elbow down. The review should have been only for possesion (was there a fumble or not?) The officials in the press box should not have ruled on anything else on the play. Possesion was the only thing that was challenged by the coaching staff of Akron . The MAC needs to review their replay officiating. These 2 calls clearly changed the result of this game.
