by Mike Hrusch on February 9, 2010

in Football, men's basketball

Dave Carducci from the Record Courier checks in today with some news and notes.  Among the tidbits Carducci has…

  • - Academic Excellence in the Athletic Department
  • - Men's Hoop Stat Superlatives
  • - Congrats Usama!
  • - Future Football Schedules
  • - Football switches to Nike

Want to learn more about a Kent State men's basketball manager?  Want to learn more about the guys who do a lot of little things that make a program run successful?  Meet Ben Hines.

SINGLETARY IS PLAYER OF THE WEEK, AGAIN – Chris Singletary was named the MAC East Player of the Week on Monday.  It was the third time he has won the award this season.  Singletary led KSU to a 3-0 record while averaging 12 points, 6.7 assists per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.  Singletary has to be one of the top candidates for MAC Player of the Year along with David Kool from Western Michigan, Kenny Hayes from Miami and Robbie Harman from Central Michigan.

MAC HOOPS TONIGHT - Tonight in men's basketball Akron will play at Central Michigan and Western Michigan will play at Ohio.  If the MAC tournament started today KSU would be the #1 seed and play the winner of the #8 Northern Illinois/#9 Western Michigan game and be in the same bracket as #4 Ball State and #5 Miami.

Congrat to Chris Singletary! Not for his hoops prowess but for his 3.47 GPA for fall semester. For all the hard times he's had (some warranted but a lot that was not), he seems to have figured the student – athlete part out. Stay focused Chris and lead this team to another MAC championship!
