John BoccieriThe Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has selected John Boccieri as one of ten targeted candidates for its new Red To Blue Program. Boccieri is currently a State Senator and the Democratic Candidate for Ohio's 16th Congressional District, which is the open seat being vacated by Congressman Ralph Regula. The program offers those campaigns selected "financial, communications, and strategic support" from the DCCC. In 2006 the program raised $22.6 million for 56 campaigns.

Boccieri will run against the winner of the Republican primary between Kirk Schuring and Matt Miller. Republican State Senator Schuring has received the endorsement of Congressman Regula, which is touted on the Shuring campaign website. Ashland County Commissioner Miller (campaign website) will be contesting Shuring in the primary. This is going to be a hotly contested seat and one that is going to receive a lot of national attention. Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia lists the seat as a "toss-up." It is good to see the DCCC helping Democrats organize early to help pick up seats like OH-16.

The race replacing Regula should be intereesting. I have always viewed that district without Regula as a swing district

John would be the best thing to happen to this district in quite a while. I've heard him speak on several occasions and think he has what it takes to make things happen in the 16th
    I'm for John.
