Sort of!!!
We have taken a brake from house hunting the past couple weeks. It has been disappointing and just miserable SO we took a two/three week sabbatical. (not to mention there was nothing really new on the market to see) That was until two interesting things happened!
1. There is a house on Merriman Road that has been on the market for 2 years – it was greatly reduced! We had looked at this house over a year ago – I thought it needed a wrecking ball – my husband loved it! It has a great lot but needs over $200,000 in work. We did not pursue it because the house was SO overpriced relative to the work it needed. Well – The 3rd of July they reduced the house to CLOSE to where it should be so we called our Realtor to make an apt. She couldn't take us through until July 7th. While we were waiting to see the house again – being empty for so long we wanted to see how damp the house was (as it turned out – damp was not a problem) an offer on the property came through – it was higher than what we would have originally offer but decided to go through again anyway. We went through and how the tables had turned – I now saw potential and Jason had a wrecking ball in his eyes!!! (we brought an electrical contractor who told us that we would either make a small fortune or get divorced) We decided to pass on the house!
2. There is a special "club" of us who all seem to be struggling with finding a new residence. SO – We update one another and share our "war stories" – and – we check out houses together. Well – last weekend – my girlfriend calls and says she may have a house that is interesting. It is not on the market yet but the man who owns it is being relocated and it could be good! We agree to go and see it. The house was in the Fairlawn Heights. We saw the house – 3 bedroom – 2 full bathroom – it is laid out well for entertaining. We LOVED it – it was as close to perfect as we have seen. The owner wants more than (we think) the house is worth (He is asking over $100.00/ SF – the house is darn good but not $100.00/ SF good) and it is in the "wrong" part of town. There is nothing wrong with the Heights but we are West Side people! So – we are debating if we should make an offer or just keep looking!!!
The will be clarity – just not yet!!!
