Wallpaper you pervs – WALLPAPER! HAHAHAHA

Ok – Obviously I had a little too much sugar at lunch BUT I would like to share some tips for wallpaper removal!   We had two rooms that needed the wallpaper removed – the paper was far from gorgeous!   We had gotten a couple quotes for removing it and one was $300.00 for a half bathroom – NO WAY!

I called Mr Fix It – AKA – My Dad.  He gave me some basic (as basic as my Dad gets!!!  HA) instructions for removing the wallpaper. I decided to start with a little half bathroom in the hallway.  I followed directions – took the little red clawy thing and scratched the walls.  Then added the removal liquid – followed the directions using hot water and waited 15 min.   The paper eventually came down – it took two hours and was all over the place but it was down.  (There was one layer of paper on the walls – some areas had two but nothing huge)

SO – When it came time to remove the paper from the upstairs master bath – I was dreading it.  I went to my local Sherwin Williams rep and asked if there was a better/ easier way to remove it.  I'll be damned if the bigger bathroom took me less than an hour!!!  The guy at SW said to not use the claw, put the liquid stuff on the paper with the hottest water possible, wait 15 min and repeat the step 2 more times.  (Three applications total)  To make sure the paper was good and saturated!!  It came off in full sheets and most of the hour was waiting for the next application.  I was shocked and pleasantly surprised!!  It was fun!!

The walls are now being drywalled and should be ready to paint shortly – OY!
