Rumors: Akron Starbucks Closing

by Tia on November 9, 2009

in Rumors

It is rumored that the Starbucks Sandrun & Market St is closing.     I hope for Deville's sake that is not the case!!!  No date has been given or if this store is actually closing, so lets hope not!!!

(The photo is not from that store)

Nobody wants to keep buying overpriced burnt coffee??

I'm stunned.

I have to admit I like their pumpkin soy latte. It is usually ok and not burned tasting! Fear not though, there are still locations all around!

It is true, Starbucks expanded too rapidly/thinly and became a poster child for corporate America – ironic, considering their Seattle/indie roots. However, their subsequent contraction has been difficult to watch.

Any word on what joints may be moving into the available retail space in the 22 Exchange apartments? Brubaker's & Jimmy John's are already operating. I thought a Starbucks would be a natural fit, but, with their current state, I suppose that would be highly unlikely.

If they could somehow make that location a drive thru I think it would help a lot. That location I hate because of the parking….pulling in and out of there "pre-coffee" is no fun!!!

well i hate to hear that anything is closing…but can"t say i"m shocked. ps- i love the rumors!!!! :)

I agree – pulling in and out of this location is tough!! There is def not enough parking and a drive thru would have been a perk BUT this was one of their original building models in the area. NOW, there is no way starbucks is going to open a location without a drive thru.
Glad I can provide what I can – REMEMBER they are rumors – nothing has been verified!

Goodman Real Estate has this listing – they are a funny group of guys. From what I have been told there is nada new. I rep UPS and we have preapproved the site for a store but no Franchisees currently. I am sure it will fill up though – the demographic is built in.

Starbucks did expand quickly – maybe too quickly but overall they have kept most of their stores open which is good! Hopefully the rest stay open. All this Starbucks talk makes me want to grab a pumpkin latte! HA
